Our client, one of the largest seafood harvesting, processing, and distribution companies on the eastern seaboard, currently has an opening available for an Ammonia Refrigeration Technician in their Cape May facility.
Reporting to the Refrigeration Engineer, the Ammonia Refrigeration Technician maintains, diagnoses and repairs the company’s industrial refrigeration system and controls, along with other maintenance issues relating to hydraulic, electrical, welding, pipe fitting, machine installation, lights, plumbing, heating & air conditioning.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Observing mechanical devices in operation; listening to their sounds to locate any causes of trouble.
- Properly servicing or performing preventative maintenance on equipment, including lubricating, cleaning, dismantling, and removing parts.
- Inspecting used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements and adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Repairing or replacing defective parts and testing their performance.
- Maintaining the appropriate service and repair documentation required by law and company policy.
- Must be available in case of emergency or call out, including for occasional night shift work.
Skills Required:
- Basic computer knowledge and be able to learn and use the maintenance database software and other program, such as VLM, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical manuals or procedures, or governmental regulations and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Strong and timely problem-solving ability.
- Solid interpersonal skills including listening carefully and communicating effectively in both spoken and written communications and building a positive team spirit.
Commitment to observing safety and security procedures and reporting any potentially unsafe conditions.
Education/Experience:
Four-year college, Technical or vocational school, or university program certificate; or a minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
- NJ Blue Seal Toxic Refrigeration certifications
- Driver’s license
- Industrial equipment certifications
